Scalability, adaptability to different platforms and environments, multi-domain operation, data processing capability and interconnection with other systems are features common to all Leonardo radars and sensors. Capable of detecting and determining the position and speed of fixed and mobile targets with precision, Leonardo’s multi-functional systems process data and send strategic information to other sensors to support command and control operations. Applications range from defence of air space to protection of territory and infrastructure, air traffic management and meteorology.

Solutions
Radar and IFF systems
Multi-functional and multi-domain (air, land, sea), fixed and mobile radar systems featuring mechanical and electronic Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technology, used for surveillance and air, land and sea defence missions, are capable of detecting, classifying and tracking multiple targets simultaneously. Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) systems allow crews to distinguish between friendly and hostile forces in real time through the exchange of encrypted signals.
IRST
Passive Infra-Red Search & Track systems supporting air-to-air and air-to-surface missions with the ability to identify and track long-range targets.
Sighting systems
Electro-optical fire control systems (FCS), autonomous or connected to other technologies, capable of integration on latest-generation land, sea and air platforms to assist defence systems in sighting operations.
Air defence
Multi-domain air defence systems to protect critical resources and infrastructure and enable prompt response to a multitude of threats, including ballistic missiles, fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters and drones. Radar systems, command and control structures, communication and electronic warfare systems allowing monitoring, acquisition and sharing of information, interception and assessment of targets with complete interoperability.
Sonar
Active and passive sonar systems for underwater defence, either fixed or towed, capable of detecting and tracking any submerged or floating obstacle, including mines, even over very long distances. May be used as torpedo attack warning subsystems.
AULOS® PASSIVE COVERT RADAR AULOS® is the passive radar system designed to provide detection and tracking capability for defence and homeland security applications. The system works by processing reflections from illumination sources such as commercial broadcast and communications signals. AULOS® is an eco-friendly system since it doesn't produce electromagnetic pollution.
The Captor-E electronically scanned radar is the future primary sensor on Eurofighter Typhoon and has a full suite of Air-to-Air and Air-to-Surface modes.
Gabbiano Radar is developed to meet the need of patrolling and surveillance in all weather conditions on ground and sea, providing a full set of operational modes including High Resolution SAR/ISAR with submetric resolution.
